With recent reports of Jay Z’s new billionaire status, you probably thought he was Hip Hop’s top earner.
On Thursday, Forbes published their annual list of the World’s 20 Top-Earning Hip-Hop Stars, and ranked Kanye, 41, as number 1.
The “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” rapper earned $150 million before taxes this past year, while JAY-Z, 49, made $81 million.
A large part of Kanye’s success is owed to his Adidas Yeezy sneaker line, according to the Magazine’s research.
Yeezy is expected to surpass $1.5 billion in sales this year. Forbes stated, “boosting West’s pretax income to $150 million this past year makes him hip-hop’s ‘Cash King’ for the first time.”
Coming in at number 3 on the list is Drake, 32, with $75 million — entirely from streaming, reports Forbes. His latest album, Scorpion, was also the most popular album of 2018, according to Billboard.
